Having played both PPA San Clemente and APP Newport Beach recently, I’m still shocked about conditions players have to deal with at these tournaments. The venues are so overcrowded and parking a nightmare and port-a-potties…. Not permitted to use indoor bathrooms at Lifetime in San Clemente. Hours of waiting in between matches at both events, but at least with APP losers can still come back around to gold medal round. And we pay a lot for this! Conditions need to improve. A player shouldn’t have to spend 10 hours on site getting to gold round and all the while scrambling to find a court to warm up on for 5-10 min. There’s a lot of room for improvement!

In what situations and at what time do you watch the ball come off your partner’s paddle or watch your opponent’s paddles? In this situation I’m in front of a male opponent with a powerful forehand, so I’m sitting backhand about a foot off the line…. Thoughts…

Target Practice! Repping a variety of serves with my fav paddles: Gearbox CX14 red & blue…. Can’t decide which I like better. Some days the lure of the power from Blue and other days the control and feel from Red. Guess I’m just paddle-amorous.

Super fun paddle demo day hosted by Santa Barbara Pickleball Shop in Ventura (fyi hosting skateboarding X Games in July at VTA Fairgrounds)!!! Such a treat for our community to get to try out all the top brands in one day. Cherry on top: it was warm and sunny today too as it “normally” is/used to be in So Cal.
