🚀 Let’s get it straight! A banger is someone who drives the ball on nearly every shot! 💥 But remember, a banger is NOT someone who only drives when it makes the most sense. Keep swinging! 🎾🔥

Paddle tracking is simple. 🎯🏓

Think of the top of your paddle as a scope 👀🔭 that follows the ball everywhere it goes. Wherever the ball is, that's where your paddle should be facing! 🎯➡️💨

In most sports, staggered positioning is usually seen as a disadvantage. However, in doubles pickleball, it can be a strategic move to incorporate more frequently into your games. Staggering occurs when one teammate moves forward to the NVZ line while the other stays back near the baseline. This tactic is particularly effective when one player executes a strong or aggressive third-shot drop, allowing their partner to advance to the kitchen line. 🎾🤝

In any racquet or paddle sport 🎾, a groundstroke is any shot made after the ball has bounced 🏓. It can be executed from anywhere on the court 🏟️ but is most commonly performed near the baseline. Groundstrokes make up a decent portion of pickleball play 🥒 and can be hit using either a forehand or backhand swing 🎾. Mastering both is essential for a well-rounded game! 💪 #Pickleball #Tips

In #Pickleball , hooking means purposely making a bad line call against your opponent. While most players would say they would never (in a million years) purposely make a bad call just to give themselves an advantage, it happens fairly often – even at the pro level. Would you like to do hooking in your games? 🎾💥 #Tips

The 4th shot is vital for the defensive side (the side that does not serve the ball) because it often determines whether the serving team will make it up to the kitchen line.

Because of the double-bounce rule, the returning team starts with this advantage, and hitting a solid 4th shot will help you maintain that advantage throughout the point. 🏓💥👟

You wait until a ball is hit to judge whether it’s in or out? 🤔🎾 Most players make the mistake 🛑. Once a ball is struck, especially on a drive, we have – at best – a half second to respond. That’s not enough time. 🔍 You must read your opponent’s body positioning and language to prepare yourself for what is likely coming your way. 💪 #Pickleball #Tips

Adding wrist movement to shots can be tricky 🎾. It introduces an extra variable, which can compound existing swing issues. 🔄 Imagine it like machinery: fewer moving parts often mean more efficiency. ⚙️

So, how can we balance wrist action without sacrificing consistency? 🤔

How to respond after a bad line call? 🤔Many players unfortunately allow themselves to get mentally flushed down the toilet bowl after a bad call. We suggest purposely turning your back on the situation (figuratively and literally) 🔄, slowing down your walk and your breath 🚶‍♂️💨, and intentionally shifting your mind to, “Now what? What do we need to do next?”.

This will automatically take you to a neutral, more powerful mental place before starting the next point -- traditional pickleball line call etiquette be damned. 📝

How to position in pickleball? 🥒🏓 At the kitchen line, your paddle should sit around chest level. 🏡🎾 Having it below the height of the net does not help protect your body against attacks.

Be careful not to extend the paddle too far out in front or hold it too tight to your chest. 🚫🤏 You want to find the middle ground where you can still extend forward on a punch but aren't crammed with the paddle against your chest. 🤔🏓

#Pickleball Tip Alert! 🌟 More and more pros are embracing the open stance serve, a game-changer in pickleball! 🏓 The open stance differs from the traditional closed stance, where the server's feet are staggered. 🚶‍♂️ In the open stance, the feet are squared up to the court, eliminating the need to step forward. 🔄

A volley in pickleball refers to hitting the ball out of the air before it bounces on the court. It's a fundamental and strategic shot used in the game, typically executed close to the net outside of the non-volley zone (NVZ), also known as the kitchen.

✅ Volleys make the game play by your rules, keeping things fast and exciting, and showing off some cool skills. Plus, it’s a great way to keep your opponents guessing and on their toes.

When a firefight starts your brain stops. You lose track of space and time and just rely on instinct and reaction speed to win the point.

😕 During those hand battles, you’re likely making a critical mistake without even realizing it. Because those hand battles are so quick there is little to no time to recover.

When hitting groundstrokes, footwork is used to create the "ideal position and distance" from the ball. Your goal is to connect with the ball in your strike zone.

➡️ When there is enough time, top players take extra steps to get themselves in the ideal position to strike the ball. That can result in a lot of baby steps just before contact to adjust position and momentum.

What do you do if a ball lands at your feet in the pressure zone? You have to step back in this scenario. This helps to relieve some of the pressure and gives you more time to return the ball. When stepping back it is better to return with a safe unattackable shot rather than attempting to speed up.

How to weaponize your serve differently:

💪🏻 Load your weight onto your back foot and explode into a weight transfer during the serve.

💥 The serve is one time where a large backswing is permissible and helps generate more power.

✅ Limit wrist movement, align your paddle face before the toss, and push through the ball.

Everybody wants more power but weighting up your paddle can eliminate your control. More mass means the ball is going to fly off your paddle. Drops that usually fall in the kitchen will sail too high.

👉🏻 Volleys will sail off of your paddle and out of bounds until you learn to control the weight. Your hand speed will also be slowed with added weight to sling around.

To show a new player the best time I have found it to be most effective to challenge them with slow attacks.
➡️ Send over a half-baked attack at 40% speed
➡️ Let them experience the thrill of a firefight
➡️ Give them a chance to win the point

A looping topspin pass can be just as effective as trying to burn the ball by your opponent. The distance they have to cover is key to them defending the ball.

Sending the ball into the proverbial upper 90 can help ensure that the pass stays in the passed. #Pickleball #Tips

The slice dink ➡️ Everything starts at your shoulder, which should serve as a pendulum, without requiring action from the elbow or wrist. A slightly open paddle face and push motion through the paddle will create the backspin that makes this shot effective. #Pickleball #Tips

A play made famous by Morgan Evans and Marcin Rozpedski, the 'Shake and Bake.' This play is executed by the serving team. Instead of dropping their third shot, the player drives the third hard and fast to their opponent. This shot is intended to force a pop up and is the shake part of the formula.

As the drive is hit, their partner crashes toward the kitchen line, to smash the pop up that was just created. And that of course is the bake. It's been done millions of times on the court and still works in every game, just like the pick and roll.

There is also a third-best alternative shot. That’s a lob to the same place, the centerline near the baseline. The problem with lobs is that they are harder to control, and they give your opponents more time to react. #Pickleball #Tips

➡️ If your partner has to track down a ball along the sideline, you should cover the middle

➡️ As you approach the kitchen, leave yourself with more forehand space than room behind your backhand

➡️ Don’t think of the court as split in half–it’s okay to move across the middle line

➡️ The closer you are to the kitchen, the fewer angles your opponents have to hit passing shots
