The Dink host Thomas Shields weighed in on Ben Johns' salary, saying that "for a pickleball pro, that’s insane. It doesn’t include endorsements, etc. Unclear whether prize money is factored in". 🤑
"The tour wars birthed inflated salary commitments from the ppa and mlp. These will normalize in the coming years. For now, it’s great marketing for a sport that seeks to attract new and better talent", he added in X. 🎾

ALW on 'X': "I honestly don’t know which format I like better. There are so many pros and cons to both! What I do know is that it’s hard to go from one format to the next!".
#PPA events have utilized the progressive draw and others have reverted to the traditional style of play with singles on the day, gender doubles the next, and mixed doubles on the penultimate day before Championship Sunday 🏆
Which format should the PPA Tour implement going forward, if they decide on only using one? 🤔

Tyson McGuffin is not a fan of the ultimate game changes by the #PPA . 🚫😡
"My body was so trashed after 10 games of singles. I was 60%-70% at most during mixed doubles day. Not fair to fans, to mixed partners, and myself that player are all beat up and suffering. Progression Draw is the answer,' he said.

"3 years ago, everyone had their job, and they would be top 10 in the world. You cannot do that anymore. They’re continuing to get better and better, the paddles are getting better and better, and the balls are getting faster. So you have got to just keep up with the pace of the top people. You have to be all in if you want to be at the top of this game," said the former tennis player in an interview with Pickleball Union.

Rob Nunnery on 'X': "The #MLP vision with geo based teams, integration of players into those communities, home and away matches, year long storylines with stats and trades, development of rivalries, etc is still the best version of what pro pickleball should be".

“Guys, what we all need to understand is we win mixed because of her! Unfortunately, when we lose, sometimes it can be OUR fault. Let her be her. Trust what she can do and do your best to help set-up her superpowers. Build her up, help instill confidence after errors, and let her know you’ll never quit on her. Make her FEEL it. She’s not weak, so stop treating her as such. Boys, we’re not the end-all-be-all, so lose the chest puff and find some humility,” said Dayne on The Kitchen Pickleball.

DUPR placed the Johns brothers as underdogs for the Men's Doubles final with 41.8%, while rivals Frazier & Johnson had 58.2%. “Meanwhile DUPR has us (Ben & Collin) as underdogs against a team we went in 7-1 on the year against… Maybe next time we can be closer to even money,” said Collin, who won the title with his brother last Sunday. #Pickleball #PPA #Nationals #Pro #News

“I had a bye in singles today and had only one match,” Anna Leigh Waters said. “Today was weird. I’ve never had a tournament where I had one match that day. I’m not sure what to do for the rest of the day. Friday, Saturday and Sunday will feel like a Championship Sunday if I can get there.”
Remember that the progressive draw makes players play an one-round-per-day. The Nationals implemented this format so that fans would get to see lots of players in different disciplines and players won’t be on the court competing in more than one match per bracket per day.

Waters is among several players who balance school, life, and being a pro.“I have to travel so much, I have to get ahead in school. This means, that when I’m home I have to do three times the amount of work a regular student would have to do. And when I’m traveling, I do three times less than what a regular student would do,” the No.1 Women’s Pro said.“The hardest part about being a high schooler and pro athlete is having time to do both. My days are completely full with school and training. One good thing about this is that I have become really good at time management and maximizing my days. I have been doing this for many years so it’s honestly just routine now.”#Pro #Pickleball #PPA #News

“The trend is pretty clear. The pro game is getting faster and faster. We set the 50 ADF line in the sand after Daytona. That was 2 standard deviations from the average of 69.00. Only 6 paddles were outside that range,” #MLP Co-Founder and Commissioner Brooks Wiley said.“In (MLP) Atlanta , 26 paddles fell outside that range, but the real interesting piece is how many paddles now are JUST above that 50 number. Remember also, the lower the number of ADF, the hotter the paddle”#Pickleball #News

“One of the biggest mistakes I see is players exclusively working on their kitchen game and fall for the illusion that it’ll translate into real play. It never does, why? Because the vast majority of these players spend very little to zero time working on various ways of getting TO the kitchen”, Dayne said.“Our 3rd, 5th, and 7th shots should be prioritized long before our kitchen game. And no … there isn’t a 50/50 blueprint that should be followed. It should be 90/10, transition skills over kitchen”#Pickleball #Pro #News
