🎙️ Jimmy Miller (President of the Black Bears) announced on his podcast Tuesday that the following two changes would be taking place for #MLP Washington D.C.:

🏆 Premier Level - Texas Ranchers replace Christian Alshon with Quang Duong. Alshon didn’t play in PPA Sacramento and PPA Dallas.

🔥 Challenger Level - California Black Bears replace DJ Young with Spencer Smith. Young apparently injured his wrist last weekend at PPA Sacramento according to Miller.

In recent years, there have always been some really good teams and some REALLY bad teams in #MLP . Just this last year, two examples were the Season 1 Frisco Pandas 🐼 and the Season 2 Atlanta Bouncers 🏀. These issues, by and large, have been rectified in 2024. GMs and owners are paying way more attention to players and their skill sets. Five teams won 50 percent of their games or more on the weekend. The other five teams either went 1-2 or 1-3, depending on their schedule. The gap is now razor thin in the Premier Level.

#MLP returns, beginning Thursday, at Life Time Peachtree Corners. 🎉

The event will last from Thursday through Sunday, with Premier and Challenger matches every day. The schedule of matches has been announced. 📅

There are only two matches on opening day. The first is an afternoon match between Texas and Columbus. This is a great match to start off with, as the two teams are both likely to make the playoffs. On Thursday night, New York will take on Columbus, so no time off for Columbus. 🎾🔥

In the final, the Slice dropped games one and two and had their backs against the wall.
➡️ Lacy Schneemann and Erik Lange had a huge comeback win in mixed doubles to breathe life back into the team.
➡️ Jessie Irvine and Ben Johns took care of game four to force another Dreambreaker for the Slice.
➡️ The Slice were outgunned on paper but heroic efforts from Schneemann, Lange, and Irvine carried them to a 21-18 Championship win.

The proposed #MLP pay reduction is 40% and will reduce work obligations proportionally. Current MLP contracts stipulate 200 days of work (ex. player salary is $100k, new salary would be $60k with 120 work days). MLP players who consent to the pay reduction will be guaranteed 10 "slots" in PPA events. MLP players who don't consent will not be allowed to participate in PPA events and will instead be placed in a 'development program’. #Pickleball #News

DC rewrote history in Dallas to become champion 🏆🔥👀 In Atlanta, we saw the same scenario, a 2-0 lead for DC. The Squeeze threw out their 'A' squad to keep the match alive. DC countered with their 'B' squad counting on a sure victory in game 4. That concept backfired when both Squeeze mixed doubles teams willed their way to victory to force an epic Dreambreaker.➡️ To avoid the same mistake in Dallas, DC chose to counter with their 'A' squad to try to close things down 3-0.✅ When the dust finally settled, it was Riley Newman leaping in the air, the DC squad rushing the court, and a 24-22 victory for DC.

There's no doubt that Christian Alshon played higher than his draft position and was a key piece of the team 💪🏻 ▶️ But it’s hard not to hand the trophy to Riley Newman who was also deserving. Orlando's title was one of the greatest feats in the history of Pickleball.🚀 Predictions said they would not qualify for the playoffs. Not only did they qualify, but they also came in first in Group A, knocking out one of the tournament favorites, Texas Ranchers.🔥 As first overall, they went straight to the semifinals, where they defeated the other big surprise of the tournament, AZ Drive.🏆 In the final, they were underdogs. DC, their opponent, had a 65% advantage according to DUPR.
