Spacing between two players can either create or limit opportunities – not just for the opposing team, but for your team as well. πŸ“

Leave too much space and your opponents can hit an easy putaway or force you to reach for the next shot. A lot of popups happen due to players reaching. But when you don't leave enough space, you limit your range, making it harder to get to balls down the sideline. You can also encroach on your partner and end up clanking paddles or knocking one another over. πŸŽΎπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

In tennis, you’re taught to keep your feet moving. In #Pickleball , that’s not the case. Because pickleball courts are smaller and you have to react quicker, focusing on efficiency in our movements is often better. That means moving our feet less by leaving one foot "anchored" into the ground. βš“οΈ

That's an anchor foot. It’s a foot that stays in one spot and doesn’t move. The rest of your body pivots around this foot. When you have the ball, and you’re considering where to go with it, you can anchor one foot and pivot the rest of your body to give yourself space and better looks. 🎾 #Tips

When your partner gives you an open hand βœ‹ at the kitchen line, they're telling you to switch! This means after you return the serve 🎾, they'll slide to cover the open spot in the kitchen πŸ“, and you should run up to their side πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ.

Generally, it's best to return the ball straight ahead ⬆️ when switching sides. This makes it tougher for your opponent's third shot 🎯, and gives your partner a better chance to cover you, no matter where they hit it! #Pickleball #Tips

There are hundreds of patterns in pickleball. πŸ”„ Try to find them while watching others play or πŸ“Ή record your own recreational games to watch later on.

Keep a few notes on each player. πŸ“ If these are people you play with regularly, then knowing their patterns will help you win more games and recognize even more patterns to exploit while you’re on the court. πŸ“πŸ’ͺ

➑️ Commit to the first shot that comes to mind–overcommitting to a bad shot in the moment will always be better than waffling between two different shots
➑️ Stop trying to lob the ball from the baseline or in 20 mph winds.

Anyone who has played organized sports understands how important footwork can be.

Improving your footwork can reduce the number of times you reach for the ball (we all have to reach sometimes, right?).

Good footwork means you are balanced, in control, and your elbows are tucked into your sides. Bad footwork means you should probably start wearing a face shield.

It's rare to find a player who prefers their backhand over their forehand. Some players, even pros, make a concerted effort to avoid backhands at all costs.
➑️ James Ignatowich debuted a new way to eliminate the backhand last year in Orlando. While chasing down a dink, Iggy actually turned his back to the net to complete one of the most absurd ATPs you will ever see.

There are some simple yet effective strategies that can make your doubles experience a winning one:1️⃣ Call lines for your partner: When your partner is returning serve, help call the lines so they can focus on the return. The same goes for shots near the baseline.2️⃣ Cut down on errors: Be the patient and consistent part of the duo. It's easy to appreciate the partner that plays great defense and sets the team up for easy put aways.3️⃣ Paddle taps: After a great shot, after a not so great shot, maybe after every point. Checking in with your partner and showing support no matter what just happened helps boost team morale.#Pickleball #Tips

Poaching is the act of stepping in to return a ball that you'd normally leave to your partner πŸ‘€βž‘οΈ If you're dealing with an overactive partner on your opponents' side, try going at them with the third.πŸš€ Keep them honest from the jump, and it will keep the court open for subsequent shots.#Pickleball #Tips

When you’re attacking, you need to see this before starting this hands battle:➑️ Does my opponent have a two-handed counter? If he does, I'm not firing this.➑️ Is he a lefty? If yes, I'm not firing this.➑️ Can I recover for my re-counter follow-up?#Pickleball #Tips

On the serve ➑️ Extend your arm a foot or two in front of your body and toss the ball from there. This creates enough distance between you and the ball and has you facing your target. On the drop β†ͺ️ Simplify the drop as much as possible. A simple, consistent drop is worth its weight in gold on the pickleball court. At the kitchen ▢️ The further you can reach into the kitchen to attack a ball, the better. It improves your angle of attack and cuts down on the reaction time of your opponent.#Pickleball #Tips

All you have to do is two steps in every training session Step 1 ➑️ Both players step one foot inside the kitchen. This forces you to have faster reaction time and requires your volleys to be more compact. Training at this close distance will help you develop faster hand speeds.Step 2 ➑️ Now step back to the NVZ and continue practice your volleys. Play it out with your partner in a game to 11.You can start slow and gradually increase speed as you get better πŸ‘#Tips

1️⃣ You should NOT be covering 50% of the court. The game was not designed to be played 50/50.2️⃣ The left-side player (righty with forehand in the middle) should cover more of the court.3️⃣ Scenario: cross-court dinks. The right-sider (forehand to the outside, Collin), should be shifted so that if the opponent chooses to speedup to him, he is waiting with his backhand cocked. Anything to his right side will go wide. If the opponent goes middle, the left-sider is ready with their forehand.#Tips
