🚀 Let’s get it straight! A banger is someone who drives the ball on nearly every shot! 💥 But remember, a banger is NOT someone who only drives when it makes the most sense. Keep swinging! 🎾🔥

Paddle tracking is simple. 🎯🏓

Think of the top of your paddle as a scope 👀🔭 that follows the ball everywhere it goes. Wherever the ball is, that's where your paddle should be facing! 🎯➡️💨

In most sports, staggered positioning is usually seen as a disadvantage. However, in doubles pickleball, it can be a strategic move to incorporate more frequently into your games. Staggering occurs when one teammate moves forward to the NVZ line while the other stays back near the baseline. This tactic is particularly effective when one player executes a strong or aggressive third-shot drop, allowing their partner to advance to the kitchen line. 🎾🤝

From 2002 to 2022, pickleball-related fractures in the United States increased 90-fold. According to the National Electronic Injury Surveillance System (NEISS), about 5,400 fractures occur annually among pickleball players, primarily due to falls.

Stay safe on the court with these tips:

Warm Up: Do gentle stretches and movements to loosen muscles and joints.
Wear Proper Shoes: Choose court shoes with good support and traction.
Stay Aware: Pay attention to your movements and surroundings.
Check the Court: Ensure the playing surface is clean and dry.
Pace Yourself: Take breaks and avoid overexertion, especially if you're new or returning after a break.

Spacing between two players can either create or limit opportunities – not just for the opposing team, but for your team as well. 🏓

Leave too much space and your opponents can hit an easy putaway or force you to reach for the next shot. A lot of popups happen due to players reaching. But when you don't leave enough space, you limit your range, making it harder to get to balls down the sideline. You can also encroach on your partner and end up clanking paddles or knocking one another over. 🎾🤦‍♂️

Skinny singles is one of the most popular games to play with just two people. 🎾 You have one player on each side of the court. The players start crosscourt from one another. Once the server has a side out, the ball goes to the other player, who stays in the square they are in, and only moves if they score. 🏃‍♂️ The returner still maintains the same position until the ball comes back to them (after a side out), and they score another point. 🌟

In any racquet or paddle sport 🎾, a groundstroke is any shot made after the ball has bounced 🏓. It can be executed from anywhere on the court 🏟️ but is most commonly performed near the baseline. Groundstrokes make up a decent portion of pickleball play 🥒 and can be hit using either a forehand or backhand swing 🎾. Mastering both is essential for a well-rounded game! 💪 #Pickleball #Tips

In #Pickleball , hooking means purposely making a bad line call against your opponent. While most players would say they would never (in a million years) purposely make a bad call just to give themselves an advantage, it happens fairly often – even at the pro level. Would you like to do hooking in your games? 🎾💥 #Tips

In tennis, you’re taught to keep your feet moving. In #Pickleball , that’s not the case. Because pickleball courts are smaller and you have to react quicker, focusing on efficiency in our movements is often better. That means moving our feet less by leaving one foot "anchored" into the ground. ⚓️

That's an anchor foot. It’s a foot that stays in one spot and doesn’t move. The rest of your body pivots around this foot. When you have the ball, and you’re considering where to go with it, you can anchor one foot and pivot the rest of your body to give yourself space and better looks. 🎾 #Tips

The 4th shot is vital for the defensive side (the side that does not serve the ball) because it often determines whether the serving team will make it up to the kitchen line.

Because of the double-bounce rule, the returning team starts with this advantage, and hitting a solid 4th shot will help you maintain that advantage throughout the point. 🏓💥👟

🛑STOP dinking like this!👇

🚩2 common beginner dinking mistakes I see are a chopping motion (especially on backhand dinks) and a wrist flick to get the ball over the net.

Both of these decrease repeatability, thus decreasing consistency and progression.

🔺Instead, follow through with your backhand and forehand dinks. Use your legs, shoulder and arms to follow through. You’ll notice most pros follow through high with their dinks (or at least above their waist).

🔺Don’t break your wrist at the last second when dinking. Instead keep a straight wrist. If you do break your wrist on a dink, keep that same break consistent through that dink, don’t additional wrist flexion through your dinking motion.

These changes WILL improve your consistency and progression!

You wait until a ball is hit to judge whether it’s in or out? 🤔🎾 Most players make the mistake 🛑. Once a ball is struck, especially on a drive, we have – at best – a half second to respond. That’s not enough time. 🔍 You must read your opponent’s body positioning and language to prepare yourself for what is likely coming your way. 💪 #Pickleball #Tips

When your partner gives you an open hand ✋ at the kitchen line, they're telling you to switch! This means after you return the serve 🎾, they'll slide to cover the open spot in the kitchen 🏓, and you should run up to their side 🏃‍♀️.

Generally, it's best to return the ball straight ahead ⬆️ when switching sides. This makes it tougher for your opponent's third shot 🎯, and gives your partner a better chance to cover you, no matter where they hit it! #Pickleball #Tips

Improve your Counters, Defense, and Anticipation by positioning your paddle strategically.

Placing your paddle correctly before your opponent's shot is crucial for staying ahead in the game. Anticipate the ball's trajectory and adjust your paddle accordingly to avoid being caught off guard. Apply this principle to both vertical and horizontal shots.
