Following through on dinks, especially above the waste, creates a more consistent dink! Here are 2, 6.0 Pickleball Pros that incorporate this exact concept with stellar results.

So instead of chopping or flicking dinks, creating inconsistency, focus on utilizing the same motion over and over, including the follow-through. Once you have that mastered, then you can tweak the motion to your style and preferences.

Playing with a poorly manufactured paddle can cause it to develop a spring-like effect, making it powerful but hard to control. If it crunches, it's breaking. Pros replace broken paddles; in rec play, there's no testing, allowing potentially dangerous paddles. There is a problem. 🚫🏓 #Pickleball #Paddle #News

🛑STOP dinking like this!👇

🚩2 common beginner dinking mistakes I see are a chopping motion (especially on backhand dinks) and a wrist flick to get the ball over the net.

Both of these decrease repeatability, thus decreasing consistency and progression.

🔺Instead, follow through with your backhand and forehand dinks. Use your legs, shoulder and arms to follow through. You’ll notice most pros follow through high with their dinks (or at least above their waist).

🔺Don’t break your wrist at the last second when dinking. Instead keep a straight wrist. If you do break your wrist on a dink, keep that same break consistent through that dink, don’t additional wrist flexion through your dinking motion.

These changes WILL improve your consistency and progression!

You might remember we featured an article recently about a San Francisco couple who decided to have an environmental assessment conducted at the nearby Presidio Pickleball Courts due to the noise. They claimed the distinctive pock-pock sound of paddles on balls had put off prospective buyers of their property. 🎾🏠

Well, in an update featured in the San Francisco Standard, they seem to have finally managed to sell their house for the not-inconsiderable sum of $29 million! 💰 #Pickleball #News

Other pro tennis players are now contacting Jack Sock, asking about the switch to pickleball. 🎾 He said that at least 20 current tennis pros are thinking about it. 🤔 He is telling them about the fun, but also that it is not easy to be great at pickleball. 🏓 He suggests that they only switch if they can be devoted to practicing to be good. 🔥

JW Johnson is allegedly playing the APP Sacramento, while his normal men's doubles partner isn't! But perhaps we will see Dylan Frazier in future APP tourneys, along with some of JW's training partners and friends like Gabriel Tardio and Federico Staksrud.

This comes as the MLP still hasn't figured out its direction, schedule, etc. in 2024. All the pros they signed at the end of 2023 for 2024-2026 are in limbo!

If Pickleball Were in The Olympics, here would be some of the heavy-hitting teams!

🇺🇸From the USA - Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns would be at the forefront. They seldom lose games, and when they make it to Championship Sunday, they don't lose in a best-out-of-5 match!

🇨🇦Canada's best for mixed doubles are Catherine Parenteau (Canada's best player) and Steve Deakin. Deakin comes in at 49, so a bit on the older side when it comes to open pros, or the Olympics for that matter. But he still boasts a DUPR of 6.36, which comes in slightly higher than Parenteau's 6.11 in dubs.

ALW on 'X': "I honestly don’t know which format I like better. There are so many pros and cons to both! What I do know is that it’s hard to go from one format to the next!".

#PPA events have utilized the progressive draw and others have reverted to the traditional style of play with singles on the day, gender doubles the next, and mixed doubles on the penultimate day before Championship Sunday 🏆

Which format should the PPA Tour implement going forward, if they decide on only using one? 🤔

#Pickleball Tip Alert! 🌟 More and more pros are embracing the open stance serve, a game-changer in pickleball! 🏓 The open stance differs from the traditional closed stance, where the server's feet are staggered. 🚶‍♂️ In the open stance, the feet are squared up to the court, eliminating the need to step forward. 🔄

JW Marriott Resort seems like a small venue for the PPA Tour at the Desert Ridge Open ⬇️

25 courts were available for over 1,000 competitors. To warm up, pros were jumping on amateur courts, amateurs were jumping on pro courts, and everything in between. 🔄

Also, there were many areas where fans stood three or four deep into the sidewalk with nowhere to walk through. 🚶‍♂️🚶‍♀️

While the venue is very nice, some serious changes will need to be made for the JW Marriott to continue hosting PPA events in 2025 and moving forward. 🏨✨

We saw a significant increase in lobbing at The Masters. Male pros can be difficult to lob because of their height and athleticism, but women pros can often effectively be lobbed. Indeed, we saw a significant increase in lobbing. The Brascia sisters, the Kawamoto sisters, Lauren Stratman, and Rachel Rohrabacher, to name just a few players, all incorporated more lobs in their doubles game. Expect to see more as we move further into 2024.

It's rare to find a player who prefers their backhand over their forehand. Some players, even pros, make a concerted effort to avoid backhands at all costs.
➡️ James Ignatowich debuted a new way to eliminate the backhand last year in Orlando. While chasing down a dink, Iggy actually turned his back to the net to complete one of the most absurd ATPs you will ever see.

“When we went to replay over the weekend, time and time again the ball looked like Halley’s Comet traveling through outer space. Every commentator was forced to say things like, “Well, it looks too close for me to really call it.”
What they meant to say was, “Our cameras are not good enough and don’t cover enough angles for us to be sure if that ball was in or out.” This is a professional sport where the pros are all going to start making six figures in 2024. The PPA must make video production a priority in the (short) offseason,” said The Dink Pickleball.

In a recent interview with Hannah Johns, Lea Jansen was asked about what rule changes she thinks should be implemented for 2024, and among the suggestions Lea mentioned was, “I think we should go to a drop serve.”

Are the serves in the pros too offensive? Should a serve be an offensive weapon? How would you feel about the pros switching to drop serves?
